Azerbaijan among 23 countries observing Zapad 2025 military drills in Belarus
Azerbaijan is one of 23 countries observing the Zapad 2025 military drills, which are currently underway with the participation of Belarusian and Russian troops.
Notably, three NATO member states — the United States, Türkiye, and Hungary — are also observing the drills in Belarus, the country's Defence Ministry said, Caliber.Az reports via TASS.
Representatives from these countries, alongside military-diplomatic missions from various other states, are witnessing the practical activities of the troops engaged in the joint strategic exercises.
According to the defence ministry, the drills, which began on September 12, are focusing on a number of tactical scenarios, including fire damage to the enemy, the use of UAVs, tank units firing from closed positions, and anti-tank missile launches.
The exercises also include strikes by FPV drones, actions by maneuverable fire groups, air support for ground units, and the evacuation of the wounded using robotic platforms.
The drills are being observed by representatives from three international organisations: the Union State, the CSTO, and the CIS, as well as a seventeen military-diplomatic missions of foreign states (Azerbaijan, Hungary, Vietnam, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Cuba, Russia, Serbia, the United States, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Peru, Indonesia), the ministry said.
