Azerbaijan among countries with low AIDS prevalence rate

Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has met with Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Winifred Byanyima.

Azerbaijan’s close cooperation with and support for various UN agencies, including UNAIDS was underlined at the meeting, Report informs.

The fight against HIV/AIDS was described as one of the key directions of the national health strategy of Azerbaijan. As a result of measures taken, Azerbaijan is among the countries with low AIDS prevalence rate.

Azerbaijan’s Health Minister Teymur Musayev attended the meeting.
