Azerbaijan approves Master Plan of Jabrayil city PHOTO
The master plan of Jabrail city, the centre of the same-name district in Azerbaijan, liberated from years of Armenian occupation during the Patriotic War in the autumn of 2020, has been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers' Decision No 238.
The press service of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture told Caliber.Az that the general plan was prepared on the basis of the order of the State Committee by Chapman Taylor (UK) together with the Baku State Design Institute.
The plan envisages the revival of the city virtually from scratch, as it was wiped off the face of the earth during the years of Armenian occupation.
According to it, the territory of the city will make up 625 hectares together with the adjacent villages. Active work on the landscaping of the territory is envisaged. The restoration of Jabrayil consists of 4 stages. According to the plan, 3,800 people should live in Jabrayil by the end of 2026, and 15 thousand people in 2040.
The master plan allocates 143 hectares of territory for residential zones with 82 per cent of the population envisaged to live in medium and low-rise houses and 18 per cent in single-family houses. The public territory will make up 22.87 hectares. The city will have 60 kilometres of bicycle lanes and pavements, over 45 kilometres of roads.
It is planned to build 3 schools for 1,880 pupils, and 4 kindergartens for 960 children. The area of landscaping will be 110 hectares (18 per cent of the city territory).
