Azerbaijan Army hosts paramilitary cross championship to enhance combat readiness PHOTO

As part of the Azerbaijan Army’s 2025 training agenda, a paramilitary cross-country championship in long-distance running was conducted at the Garaheybat Training Center, bringing together servicemen from multiple units in a rigorous test of physical endurance and operational readiness.

The event commenced with a solemn tribute to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the fallen martyrs, underscoring the values of patriotism and sacrifice that remain central to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces,  Caliber.Az reports citing Azerbaijan’s Defence Ministry.

Following the commemoration, participants were briefed on the structure, conditions, and rules of the competition.

The championship featured a series of physically and technically demanding events, including a 3000-metre run, as well as small arms and grenade launcher firing exercises. Designed to mirror real combat scenarios and elevate operational efficiency, the exercises aimed to reinforce the discipline, agility, and tactical skill of participating personnel.

Throughout the competition, servicemen demonstrated exceptional resilience and professionalism. Their performance not only reflected the high level of physical training within the Azerbaijani military but also highlighted the strategic importance of such events in cultivating unit cohesion and mission readiness.

Upon conclusion of the championship, outstanding performers—both individuals and teams—were honored with awards including championship cups, honorary certificates, and diplomas in recognition of their achievements and exemplary conduct during the event.

The Azerbaijan Army continues to place significant emphasis on comprehensive training programs that integrate physical endurance, weapons proficiency, and tactical drills, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a highly capable and responsive defence force.
