Azerbaijan, Bulgaria strengthen ties: Key talks on energy, trade PHOTO
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Georg Georgiev, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations. The meeting focused on key areas of cooperation including trade, energy, renewable energy, and transportation.
During the meeting, Minister Georgiev emphasized the importance of the 12th Global Baku Forum, noting that significant issues were addressed at the event. He highlighted the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria and underscored the comprehensive development of bilateral cooperation based on these principles, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister also pointed to the vast potential for collaboration between the two countries in areas such as economic and trade relations, energy—including renewable energy, transport, culture, tourism, people-to-people contacts, and other sectors. Additionally, he stressed the importance of establishing direct flights between Baku and Sofia to further strengthen these ties.
In response, President Ilham Aliyev fondly recalled his official visit to Bulgaria and the productive meetings held during that trip. He hailed the ongoing development of bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector. The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the crucial role of Azerbaijani gas supplies in ensuring Bulgaria's energy security.
The discussion also focused on the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria in the field of renewable energy. President Aliyev congratulated Bulgaria on joining the renewable energy project involving Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary. The collaboration between the two nations in this sector was commended.
