Azerbaijan considers reducing peacetime military service term for officers

Azerbaijan’s parliament is reviewing a proposal to shorten the length of active military service for officers during peacetime.

Members of the parliamentary committee on defence, security, and anti-corruption discussed draft amendments to the laws “On Approval of the Regulations on Military Service” and “On Military Duty and Military Service” on November 12, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Under the proposed changes, the term of active military service in peacetime for officers called up from the reserve for fixed-term service, or those who voluntarily enter active service under contract, would be reduced by six months to one year.
