Azerbaijan decides to reduce irrigation water losses by new distribution scheme PHOTO

A decision was made on the distribution of water resources between the northern Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan and Khizi regions of Azerbaijan in accordance with the irrigated arable land available in their territories.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of Melioration and Water Management OJSC Zakir Guliyev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sarvan Jafarov, First Deputy Chairman of Azersu OJSC Teyub Jabbarov, as well as the heads of executive authorities of these regions and others.

The State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan reported explained the decision with a decrease in the water level in the rivers of the country and the resulting difficulties in irrigating the sown fields, per Report.

Instructions were given on the careful use and reduction of water losses, the proper organization of irrigation, compliance with irrigation schedules, including the organization of night irrigation, compliance with agrotechnical rules and regulations, as well as strengthening control over water use.
