Azerbaijan detains 40 border trespassers in June PHOTO

The Azerbaijani State Border Service detained 40 persons for state border violations in June 2023.

Of the detainees, 19 people were citizens of Azerbaijan, nine of Pakistan, four of Türkiye, four of Afghanistan, one citizen of Ukraine, one citizen of Iran and two citizens of India, Caliber.Az reports, citing the State Border Service.

Following the fight against illegal migration, 25 persons were apprehended while attempting to cross the state border with falsified passports, visas and date stamps. A total of 973 persons were apprehended for violation of border regulations and appropriate measures were taken against them.

In addition, as part of anti-crime measures, 298 wanted persons were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, the departure of 532 persons banned from leaving the country was prevented, and the entry of 19 persons banned from entering Azerbaijan was prevented.

Thanks to the measures taken against illegal drug trafficking, over 178.2 kg of different kinds of narcotic drugs and 11,388 psychotropic pills were seized from unlawful turnover.

Moreover, smuggling worth over 3.27 million manats ($1.9 million) was detected and seized, including drugs, Makarov pistol, cartridges, various medicines, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.

The State Border Service continues to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration and illicit trafficking of drugs.
