Azerbaijan detains major drug supplier with 30kg of cannabis VIDEO
Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has continued its crackdown on illegal drug trafficking.
According to a report from the Ministry’s press service, law enforcement officials carried out an operation on January 1 in Absheron district, leading to the arrest of 43-year-old Vagif Safarov, a man with a history of multiple convictions, Caliber.Az reports.
During the operation, approximately 30kg of cannabis, laced with psychotropic substances, was seized from his possession.
Further investigation revealed that Safarov had procured the drugs through an Iranian national, whose identity is still being verified. He had distributed the drugs across various locations in Absheron district, intending to notify the drug trafficker once the operation was complete.
Safarov is considered one of the primary drug suppliers in Azerbaijan. A criminal case has been initiated against him, and he has been placed under arrest following a court ruling. The investigation is underway.
