Azerbaijan detains suspected Iranian drug courier PHOTO

Azerbaijani police officers have detained a suspected Iranian drug courier.

Ganja resident Fuad Abbasov, who was previously convicted of drug trafficking, was detained by the Gobustan district police department’s officers, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Interior Ministry.

As part of the inspection, 1.18 kg of heroin was found and seized from him.

“During the investigation, it turned out that the detainee was engaged in drug trafficking, having established contact through social networks with an Iranian drug dealer who smuggled drugs to Azerbaijan,” the report says.

A criminal case has been launched into the incident, and operational and investigative measures are ongoing.
