Azerbaijan detains two Afghan nationals in attempted illegal crossing from Iran

Azerbaijan’s Border Guard Unit in Horadiz has prevented an attempted illegal border crossing from Iran, detaining two Afghan citizens, according to the State Border Service.

The incident took place on June 1, when operational measures were carried out following the detection of suspicious activity along the border, Caliber.Az reports. 

Authorities detained Amini Del Aga (born 1999) and Rahimi Nazirgul (born 2003) after they allegedly attempted to enter Azerbaijan illegally from Iranian territory.

The State Border Service said an investigation into the circumstances of the attempted crossing is currently underway.
