Azerbaijan highlights COP29-related priorities at OSCE Forum in Prague
Yalchin Rafiev, the Lead Negotiator for COP29 from Azerbaijan, participated in the 31st session of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum, held on September 12-13 in Prague.
The forum provided a platform for discussions on Azerbaijan's priorities for the upcoming climate summit, Caliber.Az reports citing COP29's official website.
“Together with OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities Coordinator Bakyt Yusupov, discussions on Azerbaijan's vision and priorities at COP29 were held at the forum in Prague. The OSCE's contribution to the fight against climate change was also discussed,” the report says.
On September 12, Mukhtar Babayev, the President of COP29, conducted a series of working meetings in Belgrade. According to the COP29 website, these meetings focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration to tackle urgent climate challenges and underscored a commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in preparation for COP29.
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is a crucial global event focused on addressing the challenges of climate change.
Scheduled to take place in Baku in November 2024, COP29 will bring together representatives from nearly 200 countries, along with environmental organizations, scientists, and civil society.
The conference aims to assess progress on climate goals, negotiate new commitments, and promote international cooperation in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, adapting to climate impacts, and financing climate action. COP29 will play a key role in shaping the global climate agenda and ensuring that the goals of the Paris Agreement are met.
