On April 18, Azerbaijan's border authorities successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle drugs from Iran using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The incident took place on the service territory of the Horadiz border detachment, the Azerbaijani State Border Service told Caliber.Az.
The small drone, which had illegally crossed into Azerbaijan’s airspace, was quickly detected and neutralised following prompt operational measures. A search of the area revealed a significant drug haul, including 8 grams of opium and 535 grams of marijuana, amounting to a total of 543 grams of narcotics. The authorities seized the drugs and took immediate steps to secure the area.
