The AZIREX-2024 tactical exercise, involving personnel and ships from the naval forces of both the Azerbaijani and the Iranian armies, is set to take place in the Caspian Sea.

This joint training, organized under a protocol from the recent meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran joint commission on military and military-technical cooperation, underscores the commitment to regional security collaboration between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

On November 2, Azerbaijani Navy warships and personnel arrived at Iran’s Anzali Sea Port, marking a significant step in the exercise preparations. The upcoming manoeuvres will focus on "Search and Rescue at Sea" operations and will be conducted in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea.

Azerbaijan's Navy is contributing two ships and over 100 personnel to AZIREX-2024. This exercise aims to enhance the interoperability and readiness of Azerbaijani and Iranian forces in joint maritime operations, particularly in critical search and rescue procedures. The training will serve to strengthen maritime cooperation, ensuring coordinated efforts in safeguarding lives and managing incidents in the Caspian Sea.
