Azerbaijan, OPEC to hold high-level dialogue ahead of COP29

Azerbaijan and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will hold a high-level dialogue in Vienna in preparation for COP29 in Baku.

"OPEC Secretary General Haitham Al Ghais warmly welcomes the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and COP29 President-Designate who will today visit the Secretariat of the Organization in Vienna. The parties will hold a high-level dialogue ahead of COP29, which will be held in Baku this November," the statement by the secretariat says, per Report.

OPEC notes that the dialogue will be chaired by Mukhtar Babayev and Haitham Al Ghais and will bring together senior officials from cartel and non-OPEC countries participating in the OPEC+ Charter of Cooperation.

"The meeting will create a unique opportunity for all delegates to actively engage with the COP29 president in a constructive and inclusive dialogue," the statement noted.
