Baku, Baghdad discuss tackling corruption, crime
In Baku, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev held a meeting with Munther Ibrahim Hussein, Chairman of Iraq’s Supreme Federal Court, and his delegation.
Aliyev congratulated Hussein on his appointment and wished him success in his new role, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the discussion, Aliyev spoke about the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan’s prosecution system, emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating crime—including corruption—and highlighted the significance of experience exchange.
Both sides noted the active collaboration between their countries within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Aliyev also informed about the upcoming third conference of the heads of anti-corruption agencies of OIC member states, scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026.
Hussein, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in law enforcement, with special attention to fighting corruption. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to expand the legal and contractual framework and to reinforce bilateral relations.
