Azerbaijan participates in OIC tourism ministers’ meeting in Türkiye
Azerbaijan was represented at the 6th meeting of the Tourism Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the 8th OIC High-Level Experts Meeting on Tourism, which took place from April 25-26 in Erzurum, Türkiye.
According to the State Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, the agency's chairman, provided an update on Azerbaijan's strengthened cooperation with the OIC in the field of tourism in recent years, Caliber.Az reports.
He highlighted OIC events hosted in Azerbaijan and shared plans for the nomination of Shusha as the OIC’s 2026 Tourism Capital.
During the meeting, a promotional video showcasing the tourist potential of Shusha, located in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, was presented.
As part of his visit, Naghiyev met with Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. Naghiyev extended an invitation to Ersoy to attend the 71st meeting of the UN Regional Commission for Tourism in Europe, set to take place in Azerbaijan from June 4-6.
On April 26, OIC member state delegations participated in the opening ceremony and panel discussions of the Palandöken Economic Forum, which centred on the theme "A Fair Future in a Smart World: Smart Economies and Global Inequality."
