Azerbaijan prevents smuggling of drugs from Iran PHOTO
Azerbaijani border guards prevented drug smuggling on the territory of the border post of the “Goytepe” border detachment of the Azerbaijani State Border Service near Ostaiyr village of Yardimli district from Iran on October 22 at 00:10 (GMT+4).
“While ignoring the legal requirements of the border patrol, two border violators fired at the border guards and tried to escape. The border guards managed to disarm the intruders,” the Azerbaijani State Border Service told Caliber.Az.
The investigative bodies revealed that the detainees were Iranian citizens, namely, a 37-year-old resident of the Parsabad district Janali Ibrahimzadeh and a 20-year-old resident of the Garmin district Farzi Siyamek.
As reported, 9.55 kilogrammes of drugs (over 5.43 kilogrammes of heroin, 3.62 kilogrammes of methamphetamine), a night-vision device and a Beretta pistol with 10 bullets were found and seized.
