Azerbaijan Railways buys new-generation machinery

The Azerbaijan Railways company has purchased and imported 303 flatcars and 18 trains to improve the railway infrastructure and significantly increase the volume of transit traffic.

The new Bilajari locomotive depot was inspected by media representatives on April 10, the company reported.

Elchin Zulfugarov, head of the company’s infrastructure department, said that periodical improvement of the infrastructure is primarily necessary for fast and high-quality railway transhipment.

"The new generation of railcars should ensure accelerated road maintenance and construction work, power supply, and maintenance of infrastructure, which will make a significant contribution to road safety," Zulfugarov said.
