Azerbaijan reveals number of dead, injured in mine blasts After signing of tripartite statement
Some 306 became victims of mines in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories between November 10, 2020 and September 11, 2023.
According to the data, 55 of them were killed and 251 were injured, APA reports.
Besides, 42 civilians were killed and 101 were wounded. Also, 13 servicemen were killed and 150 were wounded.
During this period, 96,558 mines and other explosives were found. 47,461 of them were unexploded ordnance, 26,568 were anti-personnel mines and 17,028 were anti-tank mines.
During this period, 965,587,994 square metres (96,558.8 hectares) were cleared of mines and other explosive devices.
Armenia planted land mines in Azerbaijani territory, not only during the 30-year-long occupation but also just days before abandoning the Azerbaijani lands, as envisaged in the trilateral declaration to cause human casualties.
Civilians and military personnel are frequently maimed or killed as a result of mine explosions in Azerbaijan's liberated regions.
Armenia deliberately and constantly planted mines on Azerbaijani territories, in violation of the 1949 Geneva Convention, thereby being a major threat to regional peace, security, and cooperation.
