A total of 33 Azerbaijani families of former internally displaced people (IDPs) have returned to Jabrayil city, receiving the keys to their new apartments upon their arrival.
A convoy carrying 183 people departed from the Garadagh district of Baku on February 21 morning. With this new group of returnees, the number of families returning to Jabrayil has reached 512, totaling 2,293 individuals, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
This return is part of the First State Programme for the "Great Return", which is being carried out under the direction of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The initial phase of the programme focuses on resettling families who had previously been forced to live in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings across various districts of Azerbaijan.
To date, nearly 40,000 people, including employees of the state agencies and specialists in healthcare, education, and culture, have returned to the districts of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur. This ongoing process marks a significant step in the restoration of the region following its liberation.
