Azerbaijan's Khojavand city has welcomed more than 100 returning residents as part of the country's ongoing resettlement programme for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

20 families comprising 81 people are returning to the city of Khojavand, while two families (nine people) relocated to the settlement of Girmizi Bazar in Khojavand district, and five families (17 people) returned to Khojavand village, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

All families received keys to their new homes.

The handover ceremony was attended by officials from the Office of the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend Districts, as well as representatives of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

The returning residents expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive care and support provided by the state.

The return of former residents to Azerbaijan's territories liberated from occupation is continuing in line with instructions from President Ilham Aliyev.
