22 August 2026 13:08
More than half of the construction work on the 75.8-kilometre Kalbajar–Lachin road in Azerbaijan has been completed, with the project expected to improve connectivity and shorten travel between the two districts.
The road is being built to technical category I–II standards and will have between two and four lanes. The project includes the construction of 17 tunnels, seven viaducts and 14 bridges, Caliber.Az reports.
A total of 2,085 workers and 509 pieces of machinery are currently involved in the construction.
Once completed, the new route will shorten the distance between Kalbajar and Lachin by 31.98 kilometres and is expected to contribute to the development of a new transport corridor in the region.
