Azerbaijani sappers defuse over 170 landmines, UXOs in Karabakh ANAMA weekly report
Azerbaijan has neutralized 173 landmines during demining operations conducted in the liberated territories.
As Azerbaijani Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) informed Caliber.Az, 122 anti-personnel mines, 51 anti-tank mines, 306 unexploded ordnance were found and neutralized in Tartar, Aghdam, Aghdara, Lachin, Fuzuli, Shusha, Khojaly, Khankendi, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Khojavend, Jabrayil, and Zangilan from February 10 to 16.
A total of 935.6 hectares were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance during the reported period.
To recall, following the liberation of Azerbaijani territories previously under Armenian occupation, credible reports suggest that Armenia intentionally planted landmines in these areas as part of its military tactics.
These mines pose a significant threat to civilians and hinder the return of displaced residents. In response, Azerbaijan has launched extensive demining operations, involving coordination among ANAMA, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Service.
