As with all previously occupied territories, rapid and unprecedented construction and restoration works are progressing at a swift pace in the Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan.
Project manager at a construction company, Vazekh Valiyev, said that the construction of the first residential quarters in the Kalbajar district is moving forward at a remarkable speed, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“The land allocated for residential buildings in the Kalbajar district spans 19.5 hectares. The first quarter to be built here covers an area of 3.26 hectares. The residential area is set to include six four-storey two-block buildings, with two two-storey townhouses located opposite. The four-storey buildings will feature 27 apartments with two, three, and four rooms,” Valiyev explained.
In line with the First State Programme for the Great Return to the territories liberated from occupation, approved by President Ilham Aliyev, extensive work is underway in Kalbajar as part of a multi-faceted plan. The project encompasses a variety of initiatives designed to restore and develop the region.
The second residential quarter in the city of Kalbajar, which the president laid the foundation for on September 2 of last year, spans an area of 1.76 hectares. This project will include residential buildings with 160 apartments. Work is also ongoing on conceptual designs for additional residential quarters.
Valiyev also pointed out that construction is set to begin soon in the villages of Zar, Zallar, and Yanshag. A 2.42-hectare plot has been designated for an administrative building in Kalbajar, while a city park will span 10.9 hectares. Additionally, a project to create a complex of museums dedicated to the Occupation and Victory is planned for a 3.1-hectare site.
Looking ahead, construction is expected to be completed next year at the Kalbajar City Educational Complex, covering an area of 2.24 hectares. The complex will feature a secondary school for 528 students, a kindergarten for 80 children, seven vocational training workshops, and a dormitory with 70 beds.
In the Istisu settlement of Kalbajar, plans are underway for the construction of 159 private homes.
The Istisu Health and Recreation Complex, which broke ground on June 26, 2022, is also under construction. Spanning 34 hectares, the complex will focus on wellness tourism.
It will feature a hotel, restaurant, café, cottages, administrative buildings, a multifunctional conference hall, entertainment areas, and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The hotel, which will have 145 rooms, is expected to accommodate up to 420 guests at a time.
