Azerbaijan's ANAMA reports major progress in Karabakh demining operations PHOTO
The working group on demining and clearance of unexploded ordnance, operating under the Coordination Headquarters for addressing issues in a centralized manner in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, has visited the Aghdam district.
Board Chair of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov briefed the working group on the progress of humanitarian demining carried out under the First State Program on the Great Return, Caliber.Az reports.
He noted that since the 44-day Patriotic War, a total of 264,581 hectares have been cleared of mines in the liberated territories, of which 43,021 hectares fall within the Aghdam district. During this period, 248,583 landmines and other explosive remnants of war have been detected.
Suleymanov also addressed ongoing efforts to conserve and fence off certain areas. He said that fencing work has been completed in the directions of Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Jabrayil districts, while operations continue in the Khojavand and Aghdara districts.
