Preparations are underway in Baku for a major parade marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s victory in the 2020 Patriotic War, scheduled for Saturday, November 8.
According to Caliber.Az, the Azerbaijani Air Force carried out training flights over the city on Monday, October 27. The exercises featured pairs and formations of Su-25 attack aircraft, signalling a rehearsal ahead of the forthcoming celebrations.
On December 3, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order establishing November 8 as Victory Day in Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Defence reported that rehearsals are underway, involving troops, military vehicles, aircraft, and naval units.
Victory Day commemorates the liberation of Shusha from Armenian occupation on November 8, 2020, a key moment in Azerbaijan’s 44-day war that concluded with a tripartite ceasefire on November 10.
President Aliyev described Shusha’s liberation after 28 years of occupation as the pinnacle of Azerbaijan’s victory.
