Azerbaijan’s commitment to religious tolerance shines through multifaith sites in Ganja PHOTO

31 January 2025 15:46

Azerbaijan’s unwavering commitment to religious tolerance and diversity was highlighted by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, as he visited key religious landmarks in Ganja.

From the Imamzade Complex to the Shah Abbas Juma Mosque, Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church, and the Jewish prayer house, Mammadov's tour underscored the state's ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the country's rich spiritual heritage while fostering unity among its diverse religious communities, Caliber.Az reports.

Mammadov underscored that the restoration and preservation of religious buildings belonging to various faiths, along with regular material support for religious communities, reflect the Azerbaijani state's commitment to safeguarding religious values.

He noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has consistently implemented measures to protect national and spiritual values, as well as traditions of tolerance and religious diversity.

The Chairman also highlighted the significant contribution of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, in restoring historical and cultural heritage sites, including religious structures. These efforts, Mammadov said, help reinforce the country's multicultural traditions.

He pointed out that Azerbaijan has never witnessed discrimination based on nationality, race, or religion, and that a strong atmosphere of trust and cooperation exists among its diverse peoples. Mammadov concluded that the multicultural environment in the country reflects the deep-rooted presence of religious tolerance as a way of life for the Azerbaijani people.

Religious leaders joining the tour expressed their support for the state’s religious policies and praised the ongoing efforts to promote interfaith harmony and cultural preservation.
