Azerbaijan's energy leadership in focus as Italian media spotlights COP29

09 October 2024 09:33

The October edition of Direzione Impresa, an Italian magazine, has featured an article on the pivotal importance of the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which is set to take place in Azerbaijan.

The article titled "The Future of Energy is Shaped in Azerbaijan: COP29", penned by Italian journalist Domenico Letizian, outlines Baku's role as the host of COP29 in November, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

It delves into Azerbaijan's commitment to diversifying its renewable energy portfolio, with a special focus on green energy initiatives.

The article emphasizes Azerbaijan's current efforts to develop and transport green hydrogen, highlighting the Black Sea submarine energy cable project. This project aims to link Azerbaijan’s renewable energy sources to the European energy grid via Georgia and Romania. Additionally, it is noted that the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), part of the Southern Gas Corridor, could potentially be utilized to deliver hydrogen blended with natural gas to international energy markets.

Azerbaijan's ambition to become a hub for green energy is also underscored, with the country positioning itself to take a leading role in advancing the green economy. The article further mentions Azerbaijan’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2050 and its recognition as a reliable energy partner in combating global warming.
