Azerbaijan’s media body discusses cooperation with OIC news agencies union
Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency (MEDIA) has discussed cooperation among media organisations with the Union of News Agencies of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as part of a visit by its Director General, Mohammed bin Abdulrab Al-Yami.
During the talks, MEDIA Executive Director Ahmad Ismayilov stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation amid rapidly evolving challenges in the global information environment, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He highlighted the need for experience-sharing initiatives, the promotion of media and digital literacy, and expanded joint efforts to counter disinformation, misinformation, and hate speech.
Al-Yami, in turn, underlined the importance of the responsible and transparent use of innovative technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, in the media sector during the ongoing digital transformation.
He noted that the use of new technologies in content creation, verification, and information management must comply with professional journalism standards and ethical principles.
The meeting also covered issues such as improving media literacy, strengthening information security, applying innovative solutions in the media sphere, and exploring prospects for future cooperation.
