Azerbaijan’s MEDİA denounces deepfake videos falsely attributed to officials
The Azerbaijan Media Development Agency (MEDİA) has issued a firm denial regarding a series of fabricated statements recently circulating on social media, falsely attributed to several Azerbaijani officials.
The agency confirmed to Caliber.Az that these videos were created using sophisticated deepfake technology and bear no relation to reality.
“Fake video footage generated through artificial intelligence is deliberately designed to contaminate the information environment and mislead the public,” MEDİA stated.
The agency urged citizens to rely exclusively on information from official sources, including the country’s accredited news agencies and reputable media outlets.
MEDİA also called upon journalists, public activists, and the wider Azerbaijani community to remain vigilant and principled when encountering such disinformation campaigns. “We emphasize the importance of careful scrutiny and responsible dissemination of information in order to safeguard public trust,” the agency added.
