Azerbaijan’s president offers condolences to Turkish leader over Ankara terror attack
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his condolences to his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, over the terrorist act that occurred in Ankara on October 23.
“We were deeply shocked by the news of the casualties and injuries resulting from the terrorist act committed at Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ)," the president said, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
"We strongly condemn this heinous act of terrorism, and on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my deepest condolences to you, the families and loved ones of those who have died, and to the brotherly people of Türkiye, and wish the injured a recovery,” President Aliyev added.
Notably, on October 23, armed assailants launched a deadly terror attack on Türkiye’s state-run aerospace company TUSAŞ near the capital Ankara, government officials said.
The attack resulted in the killing of five people and 22 injured, said Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Two attackers – a man and a woman – were killed, he added.
Among the dead are four TUSAŞ employees and the taxi driver who drove the assailants to the facility, according to Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
