Azerbaijan's State Security Service nabs foreign suspect for alleged espionage
A foreign individual has been detained by Azerbaijan's State Security Service (SSS) on suspicion of espionage following a targeted operation, Qafqazinfo reports.
The detainee, identified as Akbar Gesmat oglu Sohrabi, is alleged to have been involved in recruiting Azerbaijani citizens for collaboration with foreign intelligence agencies. Additionally, he is accused of attempting to access classified documents containing information on the country's strategic assets.
Charges under Article 276 (espionage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan have been filed against Akbar Sohrabi by the SSS's Main Investigation Department. Following the conclusion of the initial inquiry, the case has been forwarded to the Lankaran Court for Serious Crimes for further proceedings.
