Azerbaijan seeks expansion of scholarship programme with Latvia
Interest among Azerbaijani students in Latvia’s annual government scholarship programme remains consistently high, with all available places fully filled each year, according to Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Science and Education Hasan Hasanli.
Speaking at the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Latvia Intergovernmental Commission held in Shusha, Hasanli said there is a need to expand the programme and diversify the fields of study supported, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He suggested that additional scholarships could be allocated to priority sectors such as agriculture, reflecting broader development needs.
“In recent years, student exchanges between Azerbaijan and Latvia have grown significantly. The strengthening of Azerbaijani universities’ positions in international rankings makes it necessary to promote them more widely in Latvia. This could help attract more students from Latvia to Azerbaijan and establish new academic ties,” he said.
