Azerbaijan showcases cutting-edge military technology at ADEX-2024 PHOTO

Azerbaijan has unveiled a wide array of weaponry produced by enterprises under the Ministry of Defence Industry at the 5th Anniversary of Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition “ADEX-2024”.

The newly presented domestic sniper rifles, the YST-24 and YST-24N, each weigh 3.8 kg and have a shooting range of 1,100 metres, Caliber.Az reports.

The exhibition also featured machine guns produced in Azerbaijan. The AZ 14.5 machine gun, with a calibre of 14.5x114 mm, alongside the İPP 12.7 and AH 12.7 machine guns with a calibre of 12.7x108 mm, are designed to be mounted on lightly armoured vehicles.

Additionally, attendees were presented with domestically produced surface drones. The Kalan and Suqovuşan drones are kamikaze drones that will be handed over to the Azerbaijani army following the completion of trials.

The Kalan drone measures 1,500 mm in length, and 400 mm in width, has a range of 20 nautical miles, a speed of 30 km/h, a TNT warhead, and weighs 5 kg. The Suqovuşan drone, measuring 2,200 mm in length and 500 mm in width, weighs 60 kg, has a range of 20 miles, a speed of 50 km/h, and a warhead with explosives weighing between 10-15 kg.

For the first time, the public was introduced to Azerbaijan's first domestically produced laser weapon — Fireforce. The laser sources have a power output of 30 kW, and the overall weight of the installation is 900 kg. Developed by Azerbaijani engineers, the weapon is mounted on a light armoured vehicle.

The exhibition also showcased three new units of armoured vehicles produced in Azerbaijan. This includes the ITX-6-L armoured vehicle, designed for the installation of various equipment or armaments. The new ITX-20-H assault armoured vehicle is equipped with remote weapon systems, navigation, and night vision. It can mount a 12.7 mm calibre machine gun and is protected against explosive device detonations, with a combat weight of 10 tonnes.

The ITX-15 armoured vehicle is specifically designed to assist in providing emergency medical assistance on the battlefield and to save the lives of the wounded.

The 5th Azerbaijan International Defence Industry Exhibition (ADEX-2024) is taking place in Baku from September 24 to 26, 2024. This prestigious event highlights cutting-edge advancements in defence technologies and military equipment available for global export.
