Azerbaijan showcases tourism leadership at COP30 in Brazil
A delegation from Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency showcased the country at high-level events on tourism and climate action during COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
According to local media, citing the State Tourism Agency, during meetings and panel discussions, Gunay Bayramova, Deputy Head of the Tourism Policy and Strategy Department, provided detailed information on Azerbaijan’s activities and new priorities implemented after COP29.
She noted that Azerbaijan’s leadership at COP29—particularly its support for the adoption of the “Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the Tourism Sector” — made a significant contribution to broader recognition of the tourism sector’s role in the global climate agenda.
Discussions also highlighted that the emerging “Global Partnership” initiative could serve as an important platform for enhancing coordination among countries and private-sector stakeholders.
COP30 was held from 10 to 21 November 2025, with “Tourism Days” organised on November 19–20. Tourism received special attention for the first time in COP history during COP29 in Azerbaijan in 2024, when November 20 was officially declared “Tourism Day.”
