Azerbaijan showcases tourism opportunities at exhibition in Vienna PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s tourism potential was prominently highlighted at the Ferien-Messe Wien 2025 exhibition held in Vienna, where the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, along with Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC and local tourism industry representatives, presented the country’s diverse offerings to a wide audience.
The exhibition, which serves as a key B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) platform, facilitated numerous meetings between industry professionals, showcasing Azerbaijan as an attractive destination for travelers, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Visitors to the Azerbaijani stand were offered detailed insights into the country’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the ancient Icharishahar, the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, and the historic center of Shaki, which includes the Palace of Shaki Khans.
In a bid to offer an immersive experience, virtual reality (VR) technology allowed attendees to explore famous Azerbaijani tourist destinations, such as the Gobustan rock formations and the picturesque village of Khinalig. Additionally, visitors had the opportunity to sample Azerbaijani sweets, further engaging with the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Austria, Rovshan Sadigbayli, visited the Azerbaijani stand and familiarized himself with the exhibition’s progress and the tourism products on display.
The availability of direct flights from Vienna to Baku further enhances travel opportunities for Austrian citizens, making it easier for them to explore Azerbaijan. In fact, the number of trips from Austria to Azerbaijan saw a 10 per cent increase from January to December last year compared to 2023, highlighting the growing interest in Azerbaijani tourism.
Ferien-Messe Wien is not merely a trade fair— it stands as Austria’s premier platform for the travel and tourism industry. As the key event that sets the tone for the year, it serves as a vital meeting point for professionals from the global tourism sector, while simultaneously attracting travel enthusiasts eager to explore new destinations.
Over the course of four days, the fair showcases a dynamic mix of both domestic and international travel options, with exhibitors from around the world offering exclusive deals, cultural insights, and personalized travel advice. Beyond being a trade fair, Ferien-Messe Wien is a powerful marketplace where exhibitors can forge valuable connections and position themselves at the forefront of the evolving tourism industry.
