Azerbaijan strengthens economic influence across CIS, says official
Azerbaijan is steadily strengthening its role within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), with its involvement in the Economic Council and broader regional economic initiatives yielding tangible results, said Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Economic Cooperation Department of the CIS Executive Committee.
He noted that despite Tajikistan holding the CIS chairmanship this year, Baku hosted a substantial number of high-level events, underscoring Azerbaijan’s growing regional engagement, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Among these, he pointed to the meeting of the Council of heads of railway administrations, describing it as a major and strategically important gathering, as well as a high-level forum of national statistical service leaders attended by senior officials.
“Azerbaijan demonstrates strong interest in cooperation with CIS countries and a willingness to share the experience and expertise accumulated in various sectors of its economy,” Myskin said. “This is very encouraging, and we hope that Azerbaijan’s cooperation with CIS member states will continue to grow stronger.”
He emphasized that Azerbaijan’s expanding involvement and willingness to contribute its competencies reflect its evolving leadership role within the CIS economic space.
