17 February 2025 14:36

Azerbaijani Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov and Ambassador of Tajikistan Ilhom Abdurahmon have discussed the opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in addressing the consequences of emergency situations.

During the meeting, Heydarov emphasised the potential for expanding cooperation between the relevant agencies of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, the ministry told Caliber.Az

He noted that collaboration between the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and educational institutions in Tajikistan would contribute to the training of highly qualified specialists.

In turn, Abdurahmon highlighted the growing relationship between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, emphasising his commitment to further strengthening the ties between the agencies of both countries in the field of disaster prevention and response.

Tajikistan and Azerbaijan share a strong and growing relationship, built on mutual respect, cooperation, and common interests in regional security, economic development, and cultural exchange.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established shortly after Azerbaijan gained independence. Since then, both nations have sought to strengthen their bilateral ties through regular high-level visits, agreements, and joint initiatives. In the political sphere, both countries have shown a shared commitment to maintaining sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability in the region.

They have supported each other in various international platforms and have aligned views on many issues, particularly in areas of regional security and combating terrorism. Both nations are also members of several regional organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Economically, the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan has been expanding, particularly in the fields of trade, energy, and infrastructure development. Azerbaijan's role as a key energy producer in the Caspian Sea region provides opportunities for Tajikistan in areas like energy supplies and technical expertise. Additionally, both countries are exploring ways to enhance bilateral trade, with agriculture, manufacturing, and construction being key sectors of focus.
