Azerbaijan to plant three million trees in honour of 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev
Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Forestry Development Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Vahid Farzaliyev has said that three million trees are planned to be planted throughout Azerbaijan in 2023 in honour of the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.
He reminded that every year March 21 is celebrated as the International Day of Forests to emphasise their importance, promote protection, and create new forest plantations, Report informs.
“The main ways to reduce the impact of global climate change are mass planting and expansion of the forest area. From this point of view, measures are being taken in Azerbaijan to restore forests, regular campaigns are being taken to plant trees, and the expansion of green spaces is encouraged,” Farzaliyev said.
Trees were planted and sown on 1,605 hectares of the forest fund last year and since the beginning of this year. Similar work is underway this year.
