Azerbaijan, Türkiye launch joint “TurAz Qartalı-2026” air exercises Photo

Joint tactical flight exercises “TurAz Qartalı-2026” have begun in Azerbaijan as part of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence.

The opening ceremony began with a moment of silence in the briefing hall in memory of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan, as well as soldiers who were killed in service to the country. This was followed by the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports per the ministry.

Officials then outlined the objectives and tasks planned during the exercises.

The Ministry of Defence said the drills are aimed at improving experience in planning and conducting joint air operations, enhancing the professionalism of military personnel, and strengthening coordination between the armed forces of the two countries.
