Azerbaijan, UN step up cooperation on sustainable urban development PHOTO
Chairman of Azerbaijan's State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev has met with United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt to discuss expanding cooperation in the areas of sustainable transport, road safety, and urban mobility.
The meeting focused on prospects for strengthening collaboration between Azerbaijan and the United Nations in advancing sustainable urban development initiatives, Caliber.Az reports, citing the State Committee.
During the talks, Guliyev underscored the importance of maintaining the positive momentum generated by the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which was held in Baku in May.
The participants noted that the "Baku Call to Action," adopted during the forum, reaffirmed the crucial role of people-centered transport policies in shaping urban environments that are safe, sustainable, and livable.
The two sides also highlighted the importance of further expanding international cooperation to promote sustainable and integrated urban mobility solutions, while fostering cities that are more inclusive, accessible, and conducive to a higher quality of life.
