Azerbaijan warns of deepfake video targeting presidential aide

Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDİA) has issued a warning over a disinformation video circulating on social media, created using deepfake technology and falsely attributed to Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan.

Thus, the agency said the AI-manipulated video aims to mislead the public and undermine the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Caliber.Az reports.

“The deepfake video seeks to deceive the public and weaken Azerbaijan’s ties with Türkiye. We urge citizens to rely solely on official information sources and call on social media platforms and relevant authorities to take immediate action to remove harmful fake content,” the statement said.
