Azerbaijani amphibious aircraft continues to help Türkiye in extinguishing wildfires VIDEO
Amphibious aircraft from the Aviation Unit of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations are actively participating in efforts to extinguish forest fires in Türkiye.
The aircraft were deployed yesterday in the Izmir-Foça region to combat the raging wildfires, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Operations to control and extinguish the fires are ongoing. This collaboration underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to supporting Türkiye during its ongoing challenges with forest fires, showcasing regional solidarity in emergency response efforts.
Notably, on August 18, the same type of amphibious aircraft from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) aviation assisted Türkiye in combating forest fires.
Since August, Türkiye has been grappling with devastating wildfires that have scorched a total of 5,019 hectares across İzmir, Manisa, and Bolu. According to NASA data, İzmir has suffered damage to 941 hectares, Manisa to 1,498 hectares, and Bolu to 2,580 hectares. While no human casualties have been reported.
However, wildlife and ecosystems experienced severe impacts.
