Azerbaijani courts approve extradition of Turkish robbery suspect
Azerbaijani authorities have extradited Kazan Anil Ibrahim, a Turkish citizen wanted internationally for robbery, to Türkiye following a successful legal process.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan confirmed that the extradition reflects ongoing effective international cooperation in combating crime, Caliber.Az reports.
Kazan Anil Ibrahim, born in 1994, was detained in Azerbaijan based on an extradition request submitted by the authorized Turkish bodies. The request was subsequently forwarded by the Prosecutor General’s Office to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes for judicial consideration.
Following his detention, the court imposed a preventive measure, ordering Ibrahim’s arrest pending extradition proceedings. In compliance with the European Convention on Extradition of December 13, 1957, Azerbaijani authorities approved the extradition request.
Kazan Anil was formally transferred to the competent Turkish authorities under the escort of a special convoy from Azerbaijan’s Penitentiary Service within the Ministry of Justice.
