Azerbaijani customs catch drug smugglers at Iran checkpoint PHOTO

Azerbaijani customs authorities have intercepted an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine across the border with Iran.

According to the State Customs Committee, during an inspection of a truck entering Azerbaijan through the Bilasuvar border checkpoint, officers discovered nearly 2 kilograms of the psychotropic substance concealed inside a fire extinguisher, per Caliber.Az.

The driver of the vehicle and his accomplice, suspected of organising the smuggling attempt, were detained on the spot.

An investigation has been launched into the case.
