Azerbaijani defence chief: Commando training necessary for professional officers PHOTO/VIDEO

Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and other officials from the ministry visited the Commando Mountain Training Centre on April 7 under President Ilham Aliyev’s instruction.

Hasanov inspected the progress of the Commando Initial Courses taken in the centre by the fourth-year cadets of the Heydar Aliyev Military Institute, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

During field training held in a military camp, the military personnel participating in the courses are practising modern methods of combat, mountain and other activities in real combat conditions.

Moreover, during the conducted drills, the main attention is paid to improving the individual skills of military personnel, and their combat and management skills.

After watching the drills, Hasanov met the personnel and inquired about their needs.

He noted that continuous reforms in the Azerbaijani Army instructed by the supreme commander-in-chief involve military education as well.

Thus, the minister emphasised that the Turkish model is applied in the training of professional officers, and commando training is mandatory for the implementation of this process.

Modern combat methods are being practised during the training to improve the knowledge and skills of military personnel, and further increase the combat capability of units.

Military personnel masters the rules for the effective application of modern weapons and military equipment, which are in the armament of the Azerbaijani Army.

Hasanov noted that the Azerbaijani Army demonstrated its power to the whole world during the April battles [in 2016], the Gunnut operation [2018], the second Karabakh war [2020] and subsequent operations. The work done to further strengthen and develop the Azerbaijani Army is underway.

The minister noted that today, along with all military personnel, future officers studying at the Military Institute must decently fulfil their duties.

After watching the training classes, the defence minister attended the newly commissioned medical point in the centre.

He was informed that the necessary conditions had been created for the health of military personnel, rendering first medical aid and evacuating to the hospital in case of need.

The medical point has a reception and diagnostic cabinet, wards, as well as an administrative cabinet.

Then, Hasanov inspected the field camp of cadets who are in the field training.

He inspected the conditions created for the accommodation, nutrition and leisure of military personnel in the field camp.

The minister gave his recommendations to the involved military personnel on studying the lessons more deeply and training as true military specialists in the future.

In the end, Hasanov set specific tasks for the officials to increase the combat readiness of the military personnel.
