AIAglobal: Israeli prime minister set to visit Baku in trip timed to honour Azerbaijani Jewish hero
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to arrive in Baku on May 8 for an official visit.
During his stay, Netanyahu will hold discussions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, various government ministers, and prominent leaders of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijani-Israeli Alliance Global News.
The timing of Netanyahu’s visit is particularly symbolic, as May 8 marks the anniversary of the death of Albert Agarunov, an Azerbaijani Jewish national hero, who was killed in battle while defending the city of Shusha in 1992. Netanyahu is set to visit Agarunov's grave at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, honouring the legacy of this brave figure in Azerbaijani history.
Netanyahu will spend the weekend in Baku and is scheduled to depart on May 11.
