Azerbaijani emergencies ministry battles wildfires in mountainous regions

Firefighting efforts are ongoing in several mountainous districts of Azerbaijan, where high temperatures, strong winds, and rugged terrain are hampering operations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) announced.

Wildfires have broken out in the Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavend, Fuzuli, and Aghdara districts, located in the Karabakh region, Caliber.Az reports, citing the MES statement.

According to the ministry, despite the challenging environmental conditions, emergency crews are continuing their response around the clock.

Personnel and equipment from multiple branches of the MES—including the State Fire Protection Service, the Special Risk Rescue Service, and the Karabakh Regional Center—have been mobilised. Helicopters from the ministry’s Aviation Detachment are also engaged in aerial firefighting operations.
