Azerbaijani emergencies ministry: Wildfires contained in several districts VIDEO
Wildfires that broke out in mountainous areas near several villages in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region have been successfully extinguished, according to a statement from the country’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The fires impacted areas near Khojavand district’s Yenikand village, Shusha’s Boyuk Galaderesi village, and Khojaly district's Ashagi Yemishjan village, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry statement.
Authorities confirmed that the blazes were brought under control and their spread effectively contained.
The Ministry credited the swift response and professionalism of its fire and rescue teams for preventing further damage.
“The spread of the fire was prevented thanks to the high professionalism of the Ministry’s fire and rescue forces and the exceptional dedication of its personnel,” the statement reads.
However, firefighting operations are still underway in other parts of the region. Emergency teams continue to battle active fires in the villages of Talysh in the Aghdara district and Tapgaragoyunlu in the Goranboy district.
Authorities have pledged to provide further updates as the situation develops.
